I know very little about Africa, embarrassingly little actually. And it's not one of these topics/continents I think about much, it's not on my radar. So I wasn't rushing to read mr Kapuscinski's book, but boy, I should've done. Beautiful, light writing with compassion, wonderment and a touch of weariness, this book is wonderful. He tells the reader about the background of so many African conflicts, about how the history of the continent has scarred it, and throughout it all, his deep love for Africa and its people shines through. Highly recommended.
